Optional survival guide

In game: /survivalguide. Select a chapter to read its instructions in chat and check progress. Green icons show completion. Items are never consumed. Chapters can be completed out of order.

1. First night

  1. Punch a tree for logs; turn logs into planks, then make a crafting table with 4 planks. Use the recipe book for tools.
  2. Make sticks from 2 vertical planks. A pickaxe uses 3 planks or cobblestone over 2 sticks; mine stone and make a furnace from 8 cobblestone.
  3. Collect and cook food. Build a lit shelter before dark. A bed uses 3 matching wool over 3 planks; sleep when safe and set your respawn.
  4. Checkpoint: carry a crafting table, stone pickaxe, furnace, bread, and white bed. Other bed colors can be confirmed by the owner. Items are checked, not taken.

2. Establish a base

  1. Mine iron safely with a stone pickaxe and smelt raw iron using fuel. Never dig straight down.
  2. Use the recipe book to craft iron armor, an iron pickaxe, a shield (6 planks + iron), and a bucket (3 iron in a V).
  3. Hoe dirt near water, plant seeds, and light the farm. Mature wheat drops seeds; keep a seed in inventory for automatic replanting. Sneak to bypass replanting.
  4. Checkpoint: carry an iron pickaxe, iron chestplate, shield, water bucket, and wheat. Extra armor and a stable farm are recommended.

3. Nether preparation

  1. A portal needs 10 obsidian for a 4-wide by 5-high frame with missing corners. Use a diamond pickaxe or cast obsidian with water and lava.
  2. Ignite inside the frame with flint and steel (flint + iron). Take food, blocks, torches, spare tools, a shield, and a gold armor piece.
  3. Write down portal coordinates. Water cannot be placed normally in the Nether, and beds explode there. Enclose your arrival portal before exploring.
  4. Checkpoint: have entered the Nether and carry flint and steel, a shield, 16 cobblestone, and 8 bread.

4. Nether exploration

  1. Explore in teams, mark a return route, bridge with guardrails, and protect your portal. Gold armor helps with ordinary piglins, not brutes.
  2. Find a Nether fortress. Use a shield and cover against blazes; collect blaze rods and nether wart from fortress stair gardens with soul sand.
  3. A brewing stand uses a blaze rod over 3 cobblestone. Fuel it with blaze powder. Brew water bottles + nether wart into awkward potions, then add an effect ingredient.
  4. Checkpoint: carry 6 blaze rods, nether wart, and a brewing stand, and have visited a fortress. Keep rods for Eyes of Ender too.

5. Stronghold preparation

  1. Get ender pearls from Endermen or piglin bartering. Wear gold when bartering and offer gold ingots; avoid staring at Endermen.
  2. One ender pearl + one blaze powder makes one Eye of Ender. Bring about 16 Eyes: some break while locating the stronghold.
  3. Throw an Eye, follow it, retrieve it when possible, and repeat farther away. Dig a safe staircase where it descends. Search the stronghold for the portal room.
  4. Place Eyes in empty portal frames, checking every side. Prepare supplies before entering. Checkpoint: carry 12 Eyes and have entered a stronghold.

6. Dragon preparation and battle

  1. Bring armor, bow + arrows, food, blocks, a water bucket, and a carved pumpkin if Endermen trouble you. Set a bed OUTSIDE the End portal.
  2. Click this chapter to opt into team dragon tracking BEFORE fighting. All participating players should opt in; stay within 256 blocks of the teammate landing the kill.
  3. Destroy End crystals with a bow or safe climbing. Caged crystals explode: retreat before breaking them. Avoid dragon breath, and attack the dragon while it perches.
  4. Co-op completion credits nearby opted-in players when an opted-in teammate kills the dragon. If a non-participant lands the kill, ask the owner to confirm participation. Never use beds here.

7. Optional End cities and elytra

  1. After the dragon, use an End gateway carefully: pearl through its small opening with a safe platform. Bring spare blocks, pearls, food, and a way home.
  2. Explore outer islands for End cities; ships can hold elytra. Shulkers cause levitation, so stay under cover and prepare a water bucket or slow-falling potion.
  3. Equip elytra in the chest slot. Jump from safe height then press jump again to glide. Flight rockets should have no firework star; repair with Mending or phantom membrane.
  4. Optional checkpoint: carry elytra. Normal exploration never requires completing these quests.

Quest behavior through Java and Bedrock still needs real player verification. Inventory checkpoints are practical proxies, not proof that every recommended step was performed.
